By remaining true to these standards LucaNet AG has come a long way from its founding in 1999 as a pure consulting firm. In the meantime, the company has become one of the leading providers of software packages, seminars and consulting for Financial Intelligence.

In addition to the company's headquarters in Berlin, two additional branch offices are located in western and southern Germany. LucaNet AG has international representations in the Netherlands, Ukraine, Switzerland and Austria.

The company's name refers to Luca Pacioli (* 1445 in Borgo San Sepolcro, Tuscany; † 1514 or 1517 in Rome), an Italian Fraciscan monk who published the first important treatise on the topic of accounting in 1494, titled "Summa de Arithmetica Geometrica Proportioni et Proportionalita" (or "Summa"). The book is considered the preeminent mathematical work of the Renaissance and includes a detailed description of the Renaissance accounting methods, as practiced by Venetian merchants. This kind of double bookkeeping with inventory, balance and profit and loss statement continues to be used to this day.
